YouthBuild Program

Empowering the next generation, our YouthBuild Program provides young adults with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workforce. This program combines education, job training, and community service, creating a path towards employment and self-sufficiency for our youth.

Program Overview
The Huntsville Housing Authority YouthBuild program serves youth ages 16-24 who are out of work and have not obtained their GED or high school diploma. This program allows individuals the opportunity to become productive members of their community. In addition to placing emphasis on building educational and job readiness skills, YouthBuild HHA focuses on leadership development, mental health awareness, community service and creating a positive environment that is geared towards personal growth and development. Students are able to earn a bi-weekly stipend during the course of the eight month program.
Upon successful completion of the YouthBuild program, each cohort will have a graduation ceremony where each graduate will receive an additional stipend.

Community Resources and Supportive Services

Participants enrolled in YouthBuild HHA have access to community resources such as counseling and referrals for childcare, transportation and/or any other barriers that may arise. Our Champion staff understands the importance of meeting the needs of the underserved youth population. The YouthBuild HHA program offers all participants the supportive services that are necessary to overcome barriers. The program is also equipped to provide life skills training, mentoring, a daily use and professional dress clothing closet, as well as other incentives.
